We find it is best to make a list of what we need covered, what needs done and when, (vacuum the top of the door frames, Sheila Shine the stainless, wipe the baseboards, do NOT spray Fantastik on the plasma screen) so that way they know exactly what a complete job entails...we use the spouse of a former longterm employee, but if you are going cold, DO A BACKGROUND CHECK. A half day here runs about $50...also we have central vac and it is a huge efficiency multiplier, not to mention it saves baseboards, it's quieter, and any residual dust is blown outside.

As is a recurring theme here, Ours comes in every other week for a good cleaning, runs about $80, half day's work. We keep it very clean in between, though, even with 2 little ones.

I'm not sure if that's what Chefwong was asking for, though. I consider her more of a cleaning woman than a housekeeper. A houskeeper usually does things other than cleaning. (No, not those kinds of things!:p)

ours comes every other wednesday. cleans 2500 sf and some of the laundry. $75 a visit (dallas). been through a couple in the past 5 years. if you find one you like, and that does a nice job cleaning.......hang on to her. we temporarily let one of ours go one time and couldn't get her back (she was booked).

My brazilian lady comes once a week, cleans the whole house and does laundry for $80.
