V-Day Rip Offs....

So I know a lot of us got nailed with V-Day and spending a lot of money. So the biggest ripoff I saw today was a guy at work (we have vendors come in) and he was selling a dozen roses for $48!

$48??? Is that it??? I think that is cheap for a day to gouge like Valentine's. A dozen long stems are usualy $75 at the cheapest. They're usually more like a C note. Rip off!

BTW, thanks Chris. They were lovely and $48 well spent.

$48? As on the Price is Right, "THAT'S TOO MUCH!" I got my dozen for $20 at Ralph's. To spend more than that on roses is crazy, unless money doesn't matter. IMO, if you feel you need to spend $100 on flowers, then buy 5 dozen roses; I don't care how nice the roses are, from what garden they come from, how they're genetically engineered, I think seeing 60 roses is a lot more impressive than 12. I would much rather spend the $20 for the meaning behind the roses and the rest of the money on a nice dinner or a gift like a massage.

Chris, $48 is dirt cheap!!! What about going to restaurants? How about markups of 3-4x regular price? Like Michelle said all this money can be spent on our X5 instead. :p

I understand the VDay pressure for some, but I simply get theCEO a $30 batch of selected cut flowers about 6 times a year: birthday, anniv., and 4 or 5 other times when she's not expecting them. $30 bucks at your local florist, on non-rip off day(s), gets a huge wad of cut flowers which, if retrimmed at home and given water changes, can last for weeks.

If it was me i would buy all tht the next day. This day is absolutely called the Hallmark Day. Tomorrow you can buy all kinds of flowers and boat load of chocolate that dosn't cost alot. Spending $40 today and spending $40 tomorrow makes a huge difference. IMO everyday is valintines, dosn't have to be today which everyone rip you off.
