Or this one.
If your talkin about extending wireless range, this is what I use because it can be used for other applications as well. Right now it's playing War from my family room Stereo.AirPort Express uses the 802.11g wireless standard to deliver rates — up to 54 Mbps

Thanks for all the advice guys. I don't really hate Macs. I just don't know them and I fear the unknown. They are beautifully designed and operate very well. I'm just committed to PC.

I guess I should better explain the issue:

She is uploading to a host. I understand the clog is not the "b" versus "g" thing but the problem as we have seen it is that when was trying to upload some files to the host site it was taking forever. She tried the same files on my wired-in PC and it zipped along lickety split. Everything seems to be faster, according to her. Her main problem is the slow uploads from her Mac as compared to on my wired PC. She does also complain about the slow browsing. Will a "g" card help in general?

Juan: You are correct that her Mac is older. It's about 3 or 4 years old so Airport Extreme is out.

Host site being something on the internet?
Her B setup is just fine, but lets just double check.

Do a speed test from the PC and then the Mac and report back the results.

You can do a speed test here -- http://www.dslreports.com/stest
If that doesn't work, you can try http://www.pcpitstop.com/internet/default.asp but that is two tests per computer.

Not sure age is and issue. I'm using a 9 year old Powerbook 1400c Wirelessly with an Airport Extreem base station.
I don't know it's upload speed but it does work well. The 1400c has a processor upgrade but it cannot be as fast as yours.

If the wireless is having trouble can you connect the Mac hard wired as you have done with your PC? That's the only way to test both laptops to see if they are uploading at the same speed.

Kevin,

Is she using Safari? Is she using a browser at all, or is she uploading via FTP?

If using a browser, try Firefox it's faster than Safari.

Good suggestion. One thing I like about Safari is the ability to mail a web page with one click. The intire page not the link. Does Firefox do that? What version are you using??

I've tried Firefox, Safari, and Camino on Mac. I like Camino. Camino is built upon the same Mozilla foundation as Firefox, but is a native Mac OSX app. Firefox is still my main browser for Windows PC.

She's using IE sometimes and and FTP program others. Either way has been slow. She is uploading files to an online host because she's updating and changing a client's website.

Well, as long as you know how to load those FF pics, that's all you need.

Have her try Firefox or Safari. IE for the Mac is pathetic, quite frankly.
