2006 330XI Loaner...

I got my hands on a brand new 330XI; I mean the car only had 60 miles on it as a loaner today. This car is amazing and if the back seat wasn't SO small I would trade in the X for it right away. I think the car handles great with plenty of power and has a nice exhaust growl. I like the roomier 5 series; but I like the looks of the 3 more.

I'm tempted to trade in the X b/c gas prices killing my pockets and after having the X for over a year I realized that I don't really need the space of an SAV. I've wanted an X every since it came out when I was 16 and I finally got my dream car. I don't want to let it go and don't think I can afford to trade it, but I think a sedan with all wheel drive would suit me better.

The only problem with the 3 is:
It was a base model with only heated seats as an option and the metallic paint with auto. This car came out to be $41,520. Kinda steep for such a bare bones car. Similar equipped G35x run for about $33, The new GS is about $38 and same with the A4. All and all, great car but I feel like this car is overpriced.
I'm hoping to get around $30 for my X with 30k miles.

the xi's are steep... I would get a regular 2 wheel drive 330i and then buy a set of good winter tires... IMHO few need more then that.

The all wheel drive is just added security. I didn't even look at the 330i, how much do those go for?

plus as far as turning and stopping the all wheel drive doesnt give you any added security. only in starting off but with the blizzaks you will never need it. My brother has an M5 as his daily driver. He has blizzaks for the winter and never not even once has he ever gotten stuck. Tell you the truth the car is pretty damn good in the snow.

My X was in the shop for two days, and I had an e90 330i for a loaner. Nice car. Fast, and it handles like dream. I don't know that I'd trade my X for the e90, though.

...What is this "loaner" thing you all speak so highly of??? My Sa looks at me like I'm speaking a foreign language when I ask him about a loaner....

I got a new 330i last fall during my "just before Warr. expiration" take in...

I drove the hell outta it for a few hours and enjoyed it very much. My critical comments then and now, are the backseat is a joke except for tossing stuff on, and the trunk is an afterthought. I realize the pass-through/seat fold down thing, but the car is really a subcompact from the B pillar back.

Great handling, performance, mpg, etc., but I would have a hard time "living" with that trunk/"backseat". No dis to 3 series owners, but it does not fit in our stable program.
My 2Cts.
