BMW 750li vs MB S550

As the title says...which would you prefer? This will be my mom's new car and her being a non-automotive enthusiast, most of this decision making will be up to me. I'm looking for real insight from preferably owner(s) of either or maybe both cars. I know the S550 is brand spanking new so ownership may not be as overwhelming as the 750. ANy input/feedback is appreciated.

I would go with the new S class; I've never been a fan of the 7 Series. The new S class is like a minature Maybach.

it depends how long she will keep it. If its a 3 year lease go with the 750. if its a long term purchase get the S550. The reason why is the benz is a new body and will be current for the next 7 years or so. the 7 series will be redesigned in 2 or years. so if she is going to have it for more than 3 years go with the benz it will look newer longer.

I agree, but make sure she has time to make trips to the dealer--new bodystyles can mean lots of gremlins.

BMW for the mere fact that its a first year model for the S550 and its probably going to be nothing but headaches and also given that BMW has free maintenance in which MB makes you pay for instead. I just like the BMW service all around over MB.

No doubt, that's one of my major concerns. However, Moms got her E320 when the new model first came out and through God's good grace its been a charm so far. But you're right, I'd seriously consider trying my luck again.

Both are great cars. but S-class copied some stuffs from 7-series. i.e. steering gearshift, bangle butt, i-drive, dash...etc.
