You're absolutely right.

For what it's worth, good move for MB moving to H/K and logic 7 as well, because the bose systems in their previous generation cars left something to be desired

Interesting. I rarely see an S with 4-matic in Calgary and we get a lot of snow. Maybe it's because most people here with an S class have an SUV as well for the winter.

probably so! There is no substitute for ground clearance when it comes to heavy snow accumulation

all new benzs in the northeast at least come standar with 4 matic and it is a no cost option to delete it and get rear drive. Thats what the Dealer told me and that started on all 2007 models. I wonder if this is only in the north east

I know MB offered 4matic on the 06 S-class as a no-cost option, but I don't understand how they would offer it no-cost to just the northeast US...

Just to let you know the E60 does not have brake by wire. Thats only Mercedes Benz.

Your X5 should have drive-by-wire though, identical to the E60.

Last thing, when you say build quality I think of the interior panels (creaking, stuff of that sort). You seem to have simply electrical problems (which is great, because it means they can be fixed with software updates versus trying to find an annoying creak).

If your still having electrical gremlins ask your dealer to do a full software update (instead of just updating the CCC). Sometimes dealers don't want to go through all the trouble and update each individual module which can lead to gremlins happening around the car...

Btw, E60.net is incredibly helpful forum.
