This information comes from the same intelligence agencies that were 100% certain that Saddam Hussein had WMDs?? |

Intelligence is not perfect - there have been blunders made through the history of modern intelligence. We only know if intelligences' failures because they are publicized, but little is made of their successes. So if and when Iran develops nuclear warheads and a missile delivery system, will there be another exodus or will there simply be a hole in the map where Israel once was? |

the weapons are not really for israel. iran possess two modern missile systems that can strike anywhere in the persian gulf.
the weapons are ICBMs. they are mid-range. for european targets. |

I don't buy that there have been any major intelligence falures by the US government in the last 10 years. The only intelligence falures have been by the indoctrinated citizens who actually believe that their leaders tell the truth and have their best interests in mind when they make decisions.
This Iran thing is taking the exact same form as Iraq did 4 years ago, and I'm shocked that people are once again buying it. The first time around I figured it had been a whole generation since the American people were last duped into supporting an imperialistic war, so that was perhaps at least somewhat understandable (or forgivable). But this time it has only been 4 years. Quite shocking to me to say the least....

What worries me more is the talk in Washington of actually using them in an attack on Iran. So far there is only been only country in history to use them. I doubt that trivial piece of information will have changed at all in the next 10 years, although I would not be surprised if the number of times that country used them does. And one more thing.... As an American Jew and a suporter of Israel, I'm sick and tired of the right wing neocons using the defense of Israel as a reason for conquest in the Middle East. Israel can take car of themselves just fine. There are only 3 countries in the world that have a more capable military than Israel. A war between Iran and Israel would be a joke. The Iranian leaders may like to yap a lot just like the nutty North Korean leader does. But in the end, the history is that neither North Korea or Iran has ever started a war in the history of their countries, which in the case of North Korea is 50+ years and in the case of Iran is 27 years. If you want to gauge which countries are dangerous and a threat to the world, look at which ones have been involved in the most wars in the last 20 or 30 years, and you will have your answer.

Then again, an Israeli foreign affairs and defense committee member said in early 2004 that "Israel didn't want to spoil President Bush's scenario" (read: pretext), and that's why they didn't go public with their assessment that Iraq didn't have the means to launch WMDs. The majority of Israelis sure did love it when Saddam was ousted. Quote:
A war between Iran and Israel may indeed be a joke, but Israel knows it cannot openly engage an Islamic country in the modern era without risking endangering its citizens within its own borders. What do you think the radical Islamists would do? They'd likely sign up a ton more "martyrs" and start doing some massive damage to the population and the infrastructure. It's all so complicated, cause one move by one set of countries, begats a counter-move by another. I just hope when the politicians in Iran begin the risk assessment, they'll see they need to come to the table. JV
