After a few days in Rome, our plans include all of the towns the Ferrari tour lists on days 5-6-7, through Cortona, staying in Firenze; touring through southern Tuscany while basing ourselves in Montalcino. Fantastic back roads. No Ferraris for us though; we rent small diesel sedans. We try and get off the beaten track, to small hotels. Best way to find ever more fantastic food and wine. One trip we drove from the UK, and rented a villa in Montalcino for two weeks. Absolutely incredible vacation, if a little expensive. If you go, consider taking Italian lessons first; while not at all necessary, it helps you get away from the tourist areas and meet people. Jeff
