Wow. NJ eliminated, the Avs swept, Ottawa out, Detroit bounced in the first round, the playoffs are a strange time.

I didn't get to see the Oilers-Sharks game last night but I think Edmonton could take the series. I also wonder how well the Ducks are going to do after chilling for so long. Will they be rusty? Will they have lost their edge?

Buffalo-Carolina will be a great series to watch.

How About Those Oilers!

It looks as though the Oilers have the momentum to take San Jose, but I certainly would not count the Sharks out yet!

I think the Sharks will play Nabokov on Wednesday as Toskala has looked very average since the triple overtime game.

I am very impressed with Carolina and I think they will be seriously challenged by Buffalo...I expect the Sabres to advance to the final.

The Ducks will likely be well rested and a little rusty for the first couple of games...they are a very impressive team and have a great shot at advancing to the final if they play the Sharks...they will have a more difficult time if they face the oilers.

One thing for sure; it really is awesome hockey!

Damn!!! The Oilers did it. They knocked off the Sharks. So that's another team predicted for greatness eliminated. It was a great game for the Oilers. They worked hard and pounded the Sharks. Edmonton had 7 breakaways??? The Ducks have some heavy hitters as does the Oilers. It'll be ugly.

On another note, I watched a documentary on Jordin Tootoo. I didn't know what his family has gone through with the suicide of his older brother Terrence, who could have also gone to the NHL. Very sad story.

Yes, that Tootoo story is a good one. Are you a Ducks fan PNG? Our win in game one was a lazy one. Can't believe Anaheim played so soft.

I'm kind of torn. I'm a Ducks fan only because I live in SoCal and am not a Kings fan. I am rooting for Edmonton because they're the only Canadian team left and I'm a fan of Canada. If Edmonton should get eliminated then I'll have to shift to supporting the Ducks.

I think the time off made the Ducks complacent. They lost their edge. They'll likely bounce back but Edmonton is playing well with Roloson seeming to have found his groove. Gotta love Ryan Smyth and Michael Peca too.

I'm really a Canucks fan but, well, they're busy on the golf course.

Ok, I have to bring this thread back to life now that my 8th seed team is in the Big Show. Awesome! There, I feel better.

Any predictions onthe Eastern Conference final?

Dang those Oilers did it. I'm very happy for them. They work so hard and are backed with excellent goal tending. I'm happy for guys like Ryan Smyth and Chris Pronger getting a chance to hoist The Cup.

Buffalo and Carolina are now 3-2 in favor or the 'Canes. They had an excellent comeback today after being down 3-1. They're not going away easily.

On a side note, how to cheapen the Stanley Cup. Put Lindsey Lohan in front of it.

6/5/06:

OMG!!! What a great Game 1 of the Finals it was until... Edmonton's night went completely into the crapper. They played two incredible periods. Then came the 3rd. The loss was bad enough but finding out that Roloson is out for the rest of the series is devastating news. I was shocked when McTavish answered matter of factly that Roli is out for good. Whoa.

I know we have some Alberta residents here so what do you all think?
