I agree with Gresch and Sanguru on many points. I've actually only had one bad experience with the police where it wasn't my brother's fault at all.
And here it is, and sorry to threadjack.. Well onto the story... All right, so I get off my shift at work at 11:30 p.m. (I work at Days Inn in Hartford for my dad until he finds another employee, which has been over a year. ). My brother's friend Mike then suggests we go to a movie, so we get in his car and get back around 2:00 a.m. As we pull into the parking lot, we notice about 4-5 cops. My brother and I tell the cop that we're the owner’s son and ask him what’s going on (2 guys stole a car and ran onto the property and they arrested them). Us being as tired as we were, decided to get home and hit the sack. As I get into my brother's car, I notice a lot of crap on his hood (crack pipe, wallet, weed, cell phone). My brother then asks another cop if he could get the stuff off his hood, so that we can go home. He did so, and we went inside to chat with the employee that was there that night. After about 15 minutes everyone left except the cop that took the stuff off our hood. We get out of the office and checked the hood before we left, turns out there are about 15 little scratches and 4 dents in the hood (scratches are probably from his finger nails, and the dents from his palm). My brother goes up to the cop and ask him what had happened to his car. He then tells us that he had to “throw” the guy on his car to put the cuffs on him. My brother then gets upset and asks the officer for his badge number and name so he can file a claim, he then tells him to “get over himself” and then walks away, gets into his car, and leaves. My brother quickly writes down his license plate number and looks at me, at this point we're both thinking ? We call the cops again, and then go inside and take a look at the surveillance camera. On it, we saw the cop that told us to “get over ourselves” throw the guy onto my brother's car, which I thought was totally unnecessary. He wasn’t struggling to get away or anything, or resisting arrest. He was standing there calmly, and then you see the cop throw him against my car. After about 30 minutes another police officer comes, and we tell him what happened. He then stands there for 45 minutes giving us reasons not to file a claim. He also said that he could try to get the cop to apologize to my brother. My brother told him that he never wants to see him again on our property. Oh and we had the cop walking away from us on camera too.And this happened last January, and my brother recieved his payment from the cops insurance last week.

I wasn't there so I cannot jump in to the conclusion. Didn't the guy say that his brother wasn't speeding at all?
It is never a good idea pissing someone off especially cops. Either the cop thought that you guys were the hazard who need to be taught a lesson, or took it personal. I worked with cops, I know they will make you sweat for many reasons. If the charge was falsified, the cops should lose his badge. If the cops is taking things personal, it would be unprofessional in my opinion. However, still very legal. Personally, a traffic citation trial is pending in two weeks, a speeding ticket, at least the cop was courteous and explained me why I was pulled over and what my options are. I was not happy, didn't agree with him on the fact and how he got me on the speed trap. However, it is just that he was doing his job, and I am doing my job trying to expunge it off my record. On my previous ticket the cop was total asshole, wasn't sure what he was doing, got snapped at me because I asked him why I was pulled over, and worse off at the traffic court he bs'ed some facts in order to win. Often times life isn't just fair better move on. There are asshole cops out there, and yet we are better off having them in most of cases. Don't you agree?
