That IS the protocol... or, our policy, to be more accurate. That does not prevent people from lashing out personal attacks, though.

, though whether the members are premium or not is not part of the equation IMO. The point is that there are only a hand full of posters that are creating the situation.

The culture of X5World is/was that it was more or less self moderated. I find that the vast majority of members are respectful, open minded and helpful. I'm afraid that opening up a CE/PS forum is like sweeping the dirt under the rug. It may be out of sight for those who don't want to see it but the pissing contests that will inevitably take place there will likely spill out into the other forums.

The problem isn't the subject matter of the threads. It's the behaviour of some of the people.

I should clarify my position on the specific question of this thread. I don't see a problem with having a Politics forum if that's the direction the board wants to take. However, I don't agree with creating a Politics forum just to address the recent situation.

While I am in favor of a seperate political forum, I agree that personal attacks should be prohibited. I am tired of being called names and insulted because my views are different than most. I would prefer if someone disagrees with me that they simply debate me with facts.

So yes, a seperate political forum would be useful, but I would prefer that its purpose be just to seperate out political posts from the others and not to become a big open forum where anything goes and there are no conduct rules.
