Cyanide attack against NY Subway System foiled

From Time Magazine:

Al-Qaeda terrorists came within 45 days of attacking the New York subway system with a lethal gas similar to that used in Nazi death camps. They were stopped not by any intelligence breakthrough, but by an order from Osama bin Laden's deputy, Ayman Zawahiri. And the U.S. learned of the plot from a CIA mole inside al-Qaeda. These are some of the more startling revelations by author Ron Susskind, whose new book The One Percent Doctrine is excerpted in the forthcoming issue of TIME. It will appear on Time.com early Sunday morning.

Very interesting.

No surprise to me that they would call off plans for such an attack. Al-Queda's claims their goal is to drive the US Military out of the Middle East. Given the political climate in the United States the last 5 years, Al-Queda would have to know that launching an attack inside the United States would only serve to fuel public support to keep troops in the Middle East even longer. Public support for the Iraq war would double overnight. Such an attack would completely backfire and would have the exact opposite effect than that which they are trying to achieve.

Man, I feel your frustration....but how in the world are we going to do anything but create a black hole of spending if Mayor Bloomberg is too politically correct to use racial profiling as a pre-emptive tool?

Same with hotels, rental car companies, and Disney World...the moment Disney starts profiling, the ACLU will be all over their ass. As a taxpayer, it is maddening to see money handed out to municipalities (mine included) for gas masks or whatever, when, IMO, the money is better spent on doing background checks on every human being who enters this country, and kicking out everybody with a lapsed visa.

It's an ugly concept...but profiling works.

Just think that it’s become another pork barrel issue.

The president knows that NYC is not his base of support.

2 of the last 3 terrorist attacks on US soil were carried out by white men. What sort of profiling do you suggest?

Yes, profiling does work. When our constitution was written we didn't have the threat of a particular nationality/religion of people who wanted to destroy us and our lifestyle. As these extremists are taught from very young to despise us, this threat from these people will not simply just go away. Yes, there is a fine line between upholding the constitution and profiling but drastic threats demand drastic measures. Every one of us that fly have noticed if there are arab looking people on our aircraft. We all do profile for what we believe is for our own good. Would you REALLY not want to have the security people in YOUR airport be watching an arab looking person a little bit closer? The ACLU has everyone so gun-shy that our safety one day may be jeopardized because of them and their threats of lawsuits. Being politically correct may be favorable to the liberals but when it comes time to really think of our safety in these times, profiling could be the best means to protect our way of life.

Last month I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslim faiths, who explained each of their belief systems. I was particularly interested in what the Islamic Imam had to say. The Imam gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video. After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers.

When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Imam and asked: "Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world. And, that by killing an infidel, which is a command to all Muslims, they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?" There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, "Non-believers!" I responded, "So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith so they can go to Heaven. Is that correct?" The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just gotten caught with his hand in the cookie jar. He sheepishly replied, "Yes." I then stated, "Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine Pope John Paul commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith or Dr. Stanley ordering Protestants to do the same in order to go to Heaven!" The Imam was speechless. I continued, "I also have problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me. Let me ask you a question. Would you rather have your Allah who tells you to kill me in order to go to Heaven or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to Heaven and He wants you to be with me?" You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame. Senders words: Needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with Rick's way of dealing with the Islamic Imam and exposing the truth about the Muslim's beliefs. I think everyone in the US should be required to read this, but with the liberal justice system, liberal media, and the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized. Please pass this on to all your email contacts. This is a true story and the author, Rick Mathes, is a well known leader in prison ministry.

I can't believe no one has taken a negative opinion to this, racial profiling is horrible, not everyone who is of that race believes in that, I would love to see the look on your face if they racial profiled you, and FYI there are plenty of just as evil people who are white (KKK, BIGOTS) etc, Racial Profiling is disgusting and I like to believe our society is more advanced then that, furthermore, as they have proved before and I have experienced because I travel the Mexico-US route alot, if they really want to get in and do what they want they will because we have major gaps in our ports and checkpoints, do you know they never search my car when I drive across the border and we have deep tinted windows in both the X5 and The Rover, trust me, they will find a way and racial profiling will not stop them, their not stupid, its a sad but true fact guys, as for the Jihad, it's just another example of people hiding behind religion to shield their hatred, it happens all the time, Catholics have done it, pretty much everyone has, its a sad but true part of life

Are you for real? The KKK/bigots are just as evil as these losers who flew planes into the towers and killed thousands of innocent people? I don't remember the last time the KKK or any bigots did that??? You are way out there man! Nobody else has taken a "negative opinion" to this because you are the minority in your thinking.

Why would someone racially profile me, a blue-eyed blonde guy? If they did I wouldn't care anyway. I'm "profiled" every time I go through an airport security checkpoint because I'm a traveler on an aircraft. If I had bad intentions then I would be nervous but I don't so it's just an inconvenience. I'm also profiled because I have a military haircut and get asked all the time if I'm in the military. I'm sure some people don't like the military and I know that but I don't care.

Do you go against the thought of the majority on this site simply to create conflict?
