Should I renew my BMW Assist?

I received my renewal last month and am comtemplating whether I should renew it. I haven't used it in the year I've had the X, but at the same time, if I ever do get into an accident or the car gets stolen (knock on wood), it might be good to have. I was wondering what everyone's experiences are with BMW Assist and whether you guys recommend renewing it? Thanks in advance.

I did not use mine at all for the first year also, so did not renew it. I have AAA anyway, seems a little redundant for me.

Actually, I just received my renewal letter as well. and I've decided to renew, since as you stated, there's no telling what may go wrong!!! I've only had it for a year as well and haven't used it either, but to tell you the truth I wouldn't want to be caught without it if something did happen!!! Besides, instead of using the cell phone operator for information you can always use BMW Assist, especially since you're already paying for it. Think about it, you can even get weather updates!!! Just my 2 cents on the subject !!!

I consider it cheap insurance. Renew it.

i was on my way down to socal a few weeks ago and saw a car on fire on the shoulder on interstate 5. i was guessing that the police already knew about it but i dialed 911 on my cell phone anyway just in case everyone else who drove past it was thinking the same thing. btw, all the passengers seemed to have gotten out of the car safely and were walking away from the car.

the first time i dialed 911, it was busy. and it was still busy for the next 3 tries. then i finally got through to a recording that asked me to press 1 if this was an emergency. i pressed one and heard some lovely muzak and a repeating message that all operators were busy. i was on hold for maybe 2 minutes, then i finally got through to a live agent.

after that wonderful experience with 911, i am definitely renewing my bmw assist subscription when it's up next year. the last thing i need is a hard time getting through to the police if i'm the one hurt and need to press 1, listen to muzak, and hang out on hold while i bleed to death or something. no, thank you. bmw assist will be totally worth it for that one time (knock on wood) i'm unconscious or seriously hurt and they can work on getting through to the police for me.

Absolutely!!! I have seen countless cases of people found in their wrecked cars, off the roadside, and no one quite sure how long they were there, hurt and unable to call for help. Like you say, it is nice to know that if that was me, someone would be calling 911 for me, sending them to my GPS-located position.

Come on, people! You are willing to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars/pounds/euros for a few extra horsepower or bling bling. How about a little extra for safety and peace of mind?!

I think on this one, I am not the type to worry about something that has a very minute chance of occuring. So I have AAA that covers all my cars, and that's good enough for me. But to each his own

I just torn away my renewal paper. Don't they charge 5$/call per directory assitance, and directions in addition to 20$/mon fee?

Just got my renewel document through the post - £120 per year or there abouts. I am certainly going to renew. Can you imagine having an accident and having forgotten to take your phone??
