10k! WHo has 10k in savings when they go off to college?

That's why I told my kids I'll send them off with wheels if they get a scholarship - even a cpo'd bmw is a heck of a lot cheaper than college tuition!

1st car '68 Ford Fairlane 2dr (from parents)
MY 1st car '75 Datsun 280Z - MY 1st used car is the '01 X5

While I have not any children, I do have a 2nd cousin and my friend's son named after me.

The 2nd cousin gets the '01 X5 (eventually) and already has my Navy flight jacket. (as valuable to me as the X)

My friend's son I'm putting thru college (tuition,books,some expenses). His car died in 2003, so I got him an early graduation present, 2003 Honda Accord Coupe EX V6. He graduates from Washington State Univ this Dec. (FINALLY!!) He works part/full time, so it's taken 6 1/2 yrs (and 4 colleges before he figured out what he wanted to do)(good grades, just no direction untill the last 5 years when he focused on Hotel Mangement, his part/full time job)

I thought the best start I could give him in life was a college education, a car, and no debts. That's what it's all about, giving them a good start.
