X3 - electrical problem - something doesn't sound right....

My wife's X3 was originally set up to lock all the doors when starting to drive.

I had this setting done on my X5 by the dealership through the options that they set up (by bringing a little computer into the car).

Since she took her X3 in for the last service, the car no longer locks the doors. My assumption was that something in the service "reset" those settings. So, like I did in my X5, I suggested she go into the dealership and ask them to redo that setting and set the car to lock the doors.

The dealership said the X3 is no longer like that (like my X5 and 328i was). Meaning, it is not a setting that service or the dealership sets.

They said this was an electrical problem and we need to make an appointment to leave the car and they will fix it.

I am really suprised that this is merely not a "settings issue" and is a full electrical problem.

Any input on this?

Phil,
In the meantime, take your other key, (assuming it has same settings as your wife's first key), and do the copycat key reprogramming deal as
outlined in this X5 World link:

http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/e...ob-bmw-x5.html

Worth a try to see if the setting is still "there" or, it's your wife's main key as the culprit. I think they goofed something up while they had it or,
a coincidental glitch sneaked in...
