More opinions needed..

I need some opinions on options for the E90.. I'm trying to decide how to equip the car. I'm debating about whether or not I should get the following options:

-Sports package: Is it worth the $1600 for bigger wheels, sport suspension, and different seats? Non-sport 3-series handle just fine, imo.
-Adaptive cruise control
-Active steering
-Comfort access

I'd get the sport package personally. Adaptive cruise control...forget it. Active Steering, many will say that it sucks, I drove a 550 with it and liked it. As for comfort access, I'd get it for the coolness factor alone.

Active steering sounds like a good feature.. making parking easier, etc. But it makes it sound like the steering would be unpredictable. I"ll have to try it out, I guess.

You have to drive an Active Steering car to decide. I have driven a few and personally I like it.

Comfort Access is in my opinion the must useless option ever conceived for any car.

Never use the Laser Cruise on the Sienna--forget it.

Sport package. You are going to be in Florida, so you have to get the windows tinted, and you have to drive on some big rubber. Yes. Or you can decide to buy some bigger wheels without getting the package.

Sport Package makes a BMW Drive like a BMW, I will never drive a non-sport pkg BMW, active cruise? just put your foot on the brake and save some money
Heres an idea: instead of active steering get DVD Nav with a backup camera, problem solved!

Sport Package is cool, as if the Comfort Access.

Active Steering is garbage - I've driven a 545i with that. Complete garbage.

Adaptive Cruise Control also falls in that category, especially considering its price. I just can't get over the psychological effect of trusting myself to the car to break on the highway for me.

I don't know what else you're getting on that 3, but make sure to get the HK audio, either as a package or standalone option. That's a good feature.

CJ,
-Sport: I wouldn't own a car, of any brand, without the firmer susp.; but,
you said you feel the non-sport handles fine for your needs. Thus, if you wanna skip ticking it off, you save that dough. Your pick.
-Adaptive Cruise: a gizmo in search of a question; if you are a over the road saleman, maybe...otherwise, fuggedabboutit!
-Active Steering: I've driven one with, several without. Unless I lived in suburbia and had to parallel park several times a day, I'd skip that.
-Comfort Access: another gizmo in search of a question. I'd pass.

In the end, it's your car, your ride, your picks.

You still heading for school in FLA?

I think I'll get the sport package.. The HK Logic7 system is standard on the 330, so I'll have that. I'm also planning on getting the premium and cold weather packages, PDC, and nav

I'll probably get the sport package.. Nicer wheels, nicer steering wheel.. not to mention an improvement on something that already handles like a dream. No adaptive cruise for me, I think.. I'll have to drive a car with adaptive steering to decide on that..
I'm still going to FL for school.. I've already sent one of the three applications in.

I'll throw my having-bought-an-330 opinion in. I did not opt for Adaptive Cruise Control because it's a waste of money IMO. I don't use my cruise that often and when I do, I'd like to be in some control of what's going on. Active Steering is probably better in the E60 than a smaller more nimble car like the E90. I think it is unnecessary in the E90. Skip it. Comfort Access is a total gadget but a very cool gadget. I have the occasional problem with it and stand there with my finger on the door handle trying to lock it but it is still very slick. I love not having to reach into my pocket or fumble with the fob. For $500, get it as you can't retrofit it if you want it later.

Sport package it a must for me despite the RFT's. The bigger wheels look great and the RFT's while expensive to replace, have great response. The turn in is very crisp with the stiffer side walls and there is only a very slight increase in ride stiffness. The sport steering wheel is also excellent. I might not even bother with an M Sport wheel.

You'll love the E90. You'll appreciate its improvements and modernization over the E46.
