I saw this on MSN and started cracking up! So I had to post it here!

And, incase you're wondering, the magazine cover does not bother me!

Breast feeding is the most important natural immunity giving activity for the baby. What is wrong with these Americans that they think that this is disgusting? Lets give the baby fake milk packed full of man made stuff. What a mess.

I'm an American and I support breast feeding - as do the majority of us. I just think this is another invented controversy just to sell magazines.

Like the "God" controversy that never seems to die in this country. 0.001% of our population are offended by the word God on our money or in our courts and the media blows it WAY out of proportion just to make a story.

Sheesh...
Thank God for Breastfeeding!

Urinating and Pooping and changing tampoons are natural too but I do prefer people do it in privacy. I do not have anything against breast feeding or sex for that matter but there are some things that don't belong in public places.
Why don't they belong in public places, because as a society we deemed certain things as "private" long before any of us were born and breast feeding was one of those things. Like it or not, it's taboo to do in public.

Now if you don't care if it's taboo or not, fine, suit yourself. But don't complain when I squat and return last nights dinner to public nature while your drinking your latte.

btw, that magazine cover does not offend me in any way shape or harm.

(and just for the record, we all understand that emergencies happen and sometimes people got to do what people got to do. Just try to be respectful to your neighbor and don't make it a habit. It's just uncomfortable for the rest of us.)

This is a replay of the Part I post on the same subject. I think it will end up the same, with a segment of our population here thinking as above.

For the record, I think that it is completely inappropriate to compare nursing a child with urinating or defecating in public. I don't think breast-feeding is taboo at all. If it is actually taboo in some societies, it is much more of a comment on those societies, and not on the act of nursing a child.

Sorry for the repost on what seems to be an already discussed topic. I can't argue with you JCL, especially because I'm not a parent. I do see more women breast feeding in public today than there used to be and I assume it's because it used to be something people did behind closed doors.

I only compare nursing with urinating and deficating because, all those things are very natural. As is breast feeding. We are at the end of the day, animals. As such we are here to eat, poop and approcreate, everything else is commentary.

I can understand why you might thing that nursing a child is inappropriate to compare with those other natural things, but in the grand scheme of survival, evolution, they are all about giving life and maintaining life.

There's nothing wrong with that process as long as the mother and baby do it in private.
