sd700 is an AMAZING camera, its got the stabilization in it a great big screen and its quick. its also a 6 or 7mega pixels but its one of those i'd really hate to lose get stolen or break.. I myself have the S410 but any canon is amazing

The number of pixels is irrelevant in these types of cameras. You only need ~ 4MP to print a good 8x10, so unless you're printing bigger than that, don't worry about pixel count. The 700 also has a longer optical zoom.

The 700 has a HUGE rear LCD and image stabilization. I've never had a digital P&S before so I can't compare, but so far I like it and it's going to get a workout this weekend in South Bend

Here's a link to a side by side comparison:

both cameras are good, i went with the 700 because of the IS. I tend to shoot a lot in low light and I don't like useing flash so the image stabilization was a big plus to me.

if you do get it, here are the places to get extra stuff from:

extra battery: www.sterlingtek.com (better than canon and 1/2 the price)
2GB Transcend SD memory card: www.newegg.com
1GB Sandisk SD memory card: comp usa (they had them for $21 this weekend after rebate, might still have them.
kata case: it's zipperd shut, tough as nails and comes with a rain cover in case you need it

gresch,
Thanks!!! My Canon S70 suddenly died tonight. I probably wore it out.

I ordered a new SD700is from Amazon for $339.15 and free shipping, and a Sandisk 1 GB SD card for $39, then ordered a couple extra batteries from Sterlingtek (half price, just as you said). Great advice!
