What is nice about the not so great watches is they all have pieces that are readily affordable. They can make a nice gift for a nephew who is graduating high school or something like that and they are not too over the top expensive. But all those brands also have some very, very high end watches.

Now I've been cruising watch sites looking at all the wrist bling I can't afford. Unfortunately I come from a family of watch snobs and I'm the only one who can't throw down. I've got some Tags, a Rolex Oyster, and some assorted a-little-better-than-novelty stuff. I recently bought a Tissot on a whim. That's still cheap stuff. My favorite watch is this Omega Seamaster circa 1950's. It's not worth much in terms of dollars but it belonged to my grandfather who I never met. I have worn it a few rare times but I decided it's better to keep this one locked away. When I'm ready for my black faced Roadster Chrono I'll look to you for the sweet hookup.

LoL,
Sorry Kev. From now on I will keep my watch posts to the watch boards. I don't want to see you sell your body on Santa Monica Blvd. to finance a new Cartier. However, I do know of a sperm bank that will give you a handsome salary for what may be considered minimal work..lol.. That Seamaster is very, very sweeeet. Any watch with a story gets major brownie points in my book. And knowing that you may give it to your grandson one day makes it all that much cooler. -- On a sad note, I'm not actually sure I have any hook up's for Cartier. I'm sure if I made enough calls I could probably find you a top deal and it would be my pleasure to do so when your ready... But off hand, I'm not sure what type of "room" those watches have. I would not buy it from a Cartier Boutique, that's for sure. But we'll cross that bridge when we get to it... And just remember, what makes a watch special is not the cost. It's the story that comes with it. Like having it shoved up the ass of a Vietnam POW for 15 years..

I work with some big money people (consequences of working at a broker/dealer) and there are very few "big watches anymore, very few. Besides, LA is always 6 months to a year behind NYC anyway (i'm joking btw)Also, maybe we should make sure we're talking about the same thing, by "big" i mean diameter and height like a breitling chronomat evolution chrono, not just diameter.

Gresch, I unfortunately have to wear suits almost everyday as well and although I think its rediculous to have all of my shirts custom made, I do have a few. The beauty of the custom made shirts is that they made my watch cuff a little larger than my other cuff. That way I can wear my Breitling under the cuff or above the cuff...when life throws you curve balls just sit back on 'em smash them over the wall.

I'm seriously considering a B&R 03-94 like the one below for a self-christmas gift. I wonder if anyone here has had experience with Bell&Ross & can comment?
