The oil prices have nothing to do with who occupies the White House. The oil prices are determined by the oil companies and OPEC. Unless our government intervenes to implement price controls (something I would be in favor of, and something that would be socialist in nature), then the oil companies can do what they want. And since OPEC pretty much has a monopoly (i.e. you cannot buy your oil from someone else), then they will continue to charge what they want, and the profits of the big oil companies will continue to go up and up.

Don't bash the politicians. If you want to pass around blame, then blame capitalism and the economic system in this country.

The only real profit for Oil companies now are in Upstream nothing or very little in downsteam. The major oil companies IMO will or indeed have started to withdraw from downstream.

I take it you guys know what I mean by upstream and downstream
