You can get an entire movie onto a single layrer DVD. DVDXCopy Xpress was a one click solution, but they were shut down about a year ago. You can still find the program though if you look in the right place. You will usually lose the extra features and the additional languages. You can get a pack of 100 blank DVDs for about $30 from Newegg. I have burned tons of stuff for the kids--lots of backups to leave in the minivan and elsewhere around the house. You know how little fingers can muck up discs!!!

Any questions?

That's one of the big reasons I like the ability to back up DVD's. I make copies to play on my portable DVD player when I travel. I have not tried DVDXCopy but have had good results with DVD Shrink and one other program that I can't remember the name of right now. Both are used in conjuction with Nero. I can copy the entire DVD including menus and most extra features.

I have that exact burner in my machine. The only difference is that I didn't get ripped off for it.

$46 plus $1 shipping is not a good price. That translates into $59 Canadian. I got my burner for $42 Canadian - even with this "deal" from NewEgg, you guys would still get ripped off.

On another note, I can't say enough good things about this device. I run 3 drives in my system (Black LiteOn 16X DVD-ROM, Black LiteOn 52X32X52X CD-RW and this Black NEC 3520 DVD-RW). The NEC is the by far the quietest of the three, and it's tray feels the most secure.

It's a great burner - when I'm burning multiple copies of some CD, I burn two at once (one in the NEC and one in the LiteOn). Both drives burn at top speed simultaneously, error free.

We'll then Ian, please post a link for us to purchase it at a better price. I challenge you to find one.

I purchase all my goods privately. Buying retail is the devil.

Just be careful what media you buy.

TY media is the best in the world at the moment. But if you buy some cheap media, and attempt to burn at higher speeds (i.e. 12X or greater), your DVD movie will stutter a lot.

Maxell DVD-R 4X Media is made by TY (you can tell by the TY01 code), and you can burn at 8X on those without loss of quality.

Just be aware of cheap media, and how it may affect your data/movie.

Look at the Taiyo Yuden discs here (this website sells to the US): linkage.
