If my car was stolen, I would want it back. Not sure why others would not. LoJack offers greater protection than BMW Assist because it can be 'hidden' in many different places and difficult for thieves to figure out where. Here in LA, BMW's are targeted and Lojack is a deterent.

I do see people's points about not wanting it back if it's stolen. Who knows what's been done to it?

OT story:
My mom's 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee was stolen. We were in Waterville Valley, NH at the ski area. My mom dropped my brother and I off and while we were inside getting ready she went to buy us lift tickets. All this time, the Jeep was sitting unlocked with the keys in the damn ignition in the 15 minute dropoff parking. So she gives us our tickets and comes back to the car and.. it's gone. So she wandered around for 15 minutes, thinking that she might have parked in some other spot. Eventually she realized the car was stolen so she called the police. This whole time, Dan and I were up on the mountain. So we came in for lunch and there she was. She was remarkably calm. SO, anyway. She had called the police. Earlier in the day they had detained a student from Plymouth State College (I don't remember why.) The police officer gave him a ride to Waterville Valley, where he claimed that his "friend" had left him a car. The officer managed to get his cell phone number. When my mom called the police, they knew immediately who it was. So the officer called his cell phone and said he had forgotten something in his car. The officer wanted to meet up with him, so he could give it back. The guy was actually dumb enough to show up. Sure enough, there was the Jeep with him. They arrested him. He also had a pound of marijuana in the car with him. This whole time, we were all hoping that the Jeep wouldn't be recovered because it was a horrible car and we wanted to ditch it for a Volvo. The car reeked like pot for quite a while after that. Apparently he clambaked the car

I use "The Wrap".Very intimidating and has lights, ATM lock, dual power, and an alarm. It went off once when I was in the car and by ears almost bled.

The following is tacky but if you go this route they'll need a truck to steel your car. Get a boot! People will stare and you'll feel like a juvi locking his bike up but you'll have peace of mind. Get the lug nut blocker so they can't replace the tire..

[Edit]: No...I don't have a boot!

that steering wheel thing can be removed in about 15-30 seconds minute tops the boot has some potential in actual prevention
