I am not trying to instigate a long poli-sci thread, but what is interesting to me
is the subtle but, serious-as-a-heartattack realization by so many of us in the US:
the president gig has become an orchestrated, puppet on a string deal. Big power
brokers, big and, maybe scary interest backers, huge freakin dough, long lists of
angles and motives and "owe mes", etc.

I don't want to sound naive; I am not, but I suspect that just in my lifetime, some
of the criteria have changed in terms of how one gets a shot at the presidency and
that process, even since Truman,
(the oldest pres in "my era".)

The Big Wheels do turn and, run "the show"...methinks.

Actually part of a recent discussion was Hillary Clinton top dog and Obama as VP. But i tend to agree that any time someone comes along that preaches anything near what people want to hear the wheels of the status quo step in and try to undermine the whole process. I don't know if the planets can align enough for either of these folks to get a foothold. A Woman president? Hmmm hard to see it. A Black President? An even longer shot IMHO. I believe like md that there are a lot of unknown forces that shape who finally becomes president and those same forces determine who will not. The media plays a part because they try everything they can to dig up every morsel of dirt on anyone who runs for public office. Weather it's true or not makes no difference. As long as it speculation that improves ratings thats all that counts.

Harmony happens whenever different parts get to form a whole by means of congruity, concord, symetry, consistency, conformity, correspondence, agreement, accord, unity, consonance…….

Keep in mind that these "unknown forces" are not totally independent of the media. There is a certain amount of control there too.
