RIP, I always liked when you saw him on the slopes at Beaver Creek with Secret Service men skiing around him. What a job!

This is also the guy who, three days before Nixon left office, and after seeing all the evidence against Nixon, sat across the table from him, and said, "I cannot publicly support you, anymore." This, more than anything else, is probably what convinced Nixon to resign.

He was a decent, honest guy... RIP.

G.R.Ford from GR, Michigan...off to Valhalla.

“I have been called an unelected president, an accidental president. We may even hear that again from the other party, despite the fact that I was welcomed and endorsed by an overwhelming majority of their elected representatives in the Congress who certified my fitness to our highest office. Having become vice president and president without expecting or seeking either, I have a special feeling toward these high offices. To me, the presidency and the vice-presidency were not prizes to be won, but a duty to be done.”
— Accepting the 1976 GOP presidential nomination

Put your liberal BS attitude away and let him rest in peace. I can't believe you have to slam a republican even on the day he passed away to feel you're passing your agenda.
Give it up, especially since you said you'd NEVER post anything on a political thread again!

It's not my "agenda". It's a fact that he lied to help cover up the murder of the president of the United States, and later in the 1990s he admitted to doing so. Some people (including me) would find that not only shameful of a former president, but outright treason.

If you want to know some details about this, then let me know and I'll PM them to you because this is not the thread to start that sort of discussion. But I certainly was going to state my opinion that he was not a good person just as a few people stated similar opinions in the James Brown thread.
