Dealership wrecked new C6, what a mess

In a nutshell, this guy brought his new C6 into the stealer for warranty work, 2 minor things, and one of the techs wrecked the car while taking it for a spin.

What a mess....

And yes, I know that this isn't a Vette forum, but this could have happened to anyone's X5 on here (God forbid) too....

It is amazing the lack of respect the person driving your vehicle around a dealership has.

I really feel for the guy, takes his new C6 in to get an antenna fixed and a stuck trunk lid fixed and winds up with some loser tech crashing it while on a joy ride. Why the hell did they need to take the car on a test drive for a broken antenna and a stuck trunk lid?

The owner is 1 pissed off dude, he's not going to go away quietly. I hope the dealership owner knows what he's doing because he's getting some incredibly bad press on a lot of car forums, not to mention that the thread made it to Digg!

I remember reading about how a BMW dealer totally screwed up a guy's M3 while a tech went on a joyride..........that's why I always reset the trip meter before I drop it off. It really shouldn't read more than 1-2 miles when I get it back.

Good plan, I use the exact same tech every time.

I'm even worse ... I remember the exact mileage when I drop it off (plus the exact mileage is always on your repair order...) because if the tech is smart enough seeing 000.0 on your trip meter, he can reset it again 1-2 miles before the end of his joy ride, and you'd never know the difference

The techs/people at my place certainly aren't bright enough to do that. I dunno if it's the techs themselves or if there are other people who drive your BMW in after you drop it off. I'm more concerned about the young people who drive our X in and out of the service bay........and they're certainly not careful enough to stare at two tiny numbers in the already tiny OBC display (remember, this is a 3-series display I'm talkin about on my X3......the numbers are smaller than my pinky's fingernail).

Usually the tech drives it out of the service bay area, where some other guy that looks like he just got his license washes it for you then drives it out front so you can then spend 10 minutes looking for curb rash and dings on your bumper at least that's how it works at my stealer ... don't even get me started on the curb rash I found on my 87s once ...
