he has another one that i've been having a lot of trouble finding, but it's in one of his earlier rants, and to paraphrase:

"How do we know that the Earth is warmer today than 100 years ago? Are you seriously telling me that we're comparing our multi-billion dollar weather tracking equipment to some temperature that was recorded by a guy with a wet finger pointed into the wind in 1872?"

i wish i could find it, it's a lot funnier from him :0

Not sure I know what's going on. But here are some interesting stats.

For example, during the summer of 2002, Europe was struck with unusually heavy rainstorms. They led, in fact, to what was described as "the worst central European floods in over a century.

AUSTRIA: "The provinces of Salzburg, Carinthia, and Tirol were hit especially hard by severe rainstorms. Many streets were swamped in sludge, with piles of mud and debris up to 15 meters [50 feet] high. At Vienna's Südbahnhof station, a thunderstorm caused a train accident that injured several people."

CZECH REPUBLIC: "It has been a harrowing experience for Prague. But in the provinces the tragedy has been much worse. As many as 200,000 people have been moved from their homes. Whole towns have been submerged by the floods."

FRANCE: "Twenty-three dead, 9 missing, and thousands sorely affected . . . Three people were fatally struck by lightning during Monday's storms. . . . A fireman died after rescuing a couple in distress; they had been carried away in their car by the waters."

Flooding in Germany

GERMANY: "Never before in the history of the Federal Republic have towns and villages been evacuated to such an extent as they have been now during this 'flood of the century.' Residents have fled their hometowns by the thousands. Most have done so as a precautionary measure. Some were rescued from the floods at the last minute by boat or helicopter."

ROMANIA: "About a dozen people have lost their lives since mid-July because of the storms."

RUSSIA: "At least 58 people died on the shores of the Black Sea . . . About 30 cars and buses remain on the seabed, with no search of them possible after new storm warnings were issued."

Yeah, but that's not real because Dennis Miller couldn't feel any difference from his cozy hotel room.

Ultimte Global Warming

That is the good news. The bad news is disaster could be waiting for us quite a bit sooner than five billion years. The Sun is not constant now and it never has been. Even though our star seems to be in its comfortable middle age it is, in fact, slowly heating up. Every ton of Hydrogen gas that gets converted into Helium forces the Sun to contract just a little bit and that raises its temperature just a bit. In the next 1.1 billion years the amount of energy the Earth will get from the Sun (which is directly related to the Sun's temperature) will increase by almost 10%. That may not seem like much to you, but to a delicately balanced planet's climate far less then 10% can mean the difference between life and death. When scientists examine computer models for a future climate under the revved up Sun they see a Greenhouse effect gone wild. The polar ice caps will be history, and much of the fertile land will be flooded. As the Sun's output continues to increase so much water is evaporated into the atmosphere that even the stratosphere gets wet. Sunlight can then break apart the water molecules allowing the hydrogen atoms to escape into space. No more water, no more life. The world as we know it will have ended.

A billion years from now? Ok to quote coach Mora "A billion, a billion, don't talk about a billion"

Take into consideration that humans have gone from ape to man in less then a billion years......I wouldn't even attempt to fathom where technology, or species will be in a billion years.
