This is the first time I've had six gears to play with, and I've forgotten about sixth a couple of times...probably because the rpm's in fifth are still much lower than in the X.

I really like the new 330...I gotta get over to the idiot Stlr in Fletcher,NC and eyeball'em; I'd love to drive one w/the Sport susp. & 6 Spd. However, that experience could cause 3 series fever and prod me to toss the X.

Great car there, Doug. BR, md

PS: I have 6th in the Vette, and often forget to notch it up one more. I know the feeling.

That's exactly what happened to me!! I was also about to run out of the warranty period (45k miles).

I have found one annoying feature of the car: the engine must be running to operate the sunroof...

That sucks... An annoying thing I've found about BMWs is that you need the key in the ignition to operate the radio.. The Audis don't require that. If i'm cleaning the inside of the car then I have to listen to the incessant binging if I want to listen to the radio.

I've never had a BMW that needed the key for the radio...

MD: Think you could live without a dipstick? That one surprised me. Can't quite see you using the I Drive to get a digital report on oil level.

I was at the local dealer's on Saturday, for services on the 325xi and the X5 (Inspection 1 on both). I let my sales rep know I was coming in, and we crawled over the E90, E46 convertible, and 530s with and without sport package. Waiting to see the 530xiT in 4 weeks, and starting to plan for the next trade (no rush, probably next spring). the 530xiT would replace the X5, and an E90 would replace the E46. Another option is to wait for the E90 convertible, and trade both the Z and the E46 on a 330 sport convertible. Going to wait to drive the ones available now when the 5 touring is in stock.

I was very impressed with the E90, a little more room makes a big difference if you are 6'4, 230 lb. I liked the dash, on both the E60 and E90. Not sure how to deal with the sunroof, I usually order without a sunroof to pick up more headroom, but they are becoming standard now, and the panorama roof is worse. Sales rep is looking into a special order with a delete sunroof code.

Despite all the negative comments on the styling changes, I think BMW is going to sell boatloads of these.

Jeff
