You don't need to fly them high... Matter of fact, the first challenge when you get one is to try to maintain a low hover. As your skills get better you increase height. Then you try forward flight, backwards flight, figure 8's, precision landings, etc...

I usually fly them around eye level...

But literally, it takes a couple of days before you get good enough to do that stuff. Because you keep crashing into stuff, you have down time... You either have to go to the shop to get replacement parts, or wait for them in the mail.. DOWNTIME is horrible.. I WANT TO FLY NOW !!!!!!

So you don't need high ceilings.. Just some space in the house that doesn't have a lot of obstructions.

A couple guys at work have them and fly them around the office... they ARE a blast. Waiting for stores to catch up and I'll buy one myself.

These are the guys I buy my parts from. I'm pretty happy with them.

Oh, and I know you might be tempted to buy one of the more advanced models... DON'T.... not until you learn on the CX. Don't say I didn't warn ya..

Sweet upside down landing. Right in the back of your X. Hope you didn't scratch the paint.

Nice they sound like a lot cheaper to fix than my JR Ergo 46 and you can fly them inside!

Where did you buy them??
