So since these tv's are getting so much cheaper, something
must be coming behind at a higher price? Anybody know?

Larger sizes are all that is out there currently 108", 110" LCD, Plasma, DLP are all on the horzon Cinewide sizes are out there but a ways off (with the exception of Runco who already has it and carries patent rights in the states for another year or so hence the delay in other's manufacture)

LED backlit Panels and DLP units are out there probably the largest developement that could be seen by Q1 of the coming year

OLED displays are on the horizon but they just got them to last a week then the organic media breaks down...still a long way to go but a 10,000 to 1 contrast ratio is nuts probably another two years or so of R&D and you will see them out there in medium to large sized

Imo, it won't "matter" much to most households here in the states:

A large percentage of the homes don't have an HD feed, many buy
an HD TV and don't have the feed, etc., etc., many say screw it,
we are watching Am Idol and the local crap news on our 10 yr
old CRT TV...

A couple thousand first adoptors maybe waiting for the next new
thing, but HD hasn't even penetrated the homes of US. And, the
BluRay vs HD DVD arm wrestle just reinforces the "let's wait" 'tude
on most consumers minds.

I suspect we forget that a majority of the third of a billion pop.
in the US are not "broad banded, HD'd, BlueToothed, BMW'd," etc.
My Qtr's up and jes' my opin.

No need to "wait" for the next new thing...

I bought the 52" Aquos about a month ago - love it so far. Struggled with getting the right TV for the room - new home has many 'built-ins' - which I almost ripped out! But - the 52" worked out real nice - as well as a cool stand from Circuit City which 'hung' the TV. 2 HDMI inputs - enjoying it. Now the problem - I don't have the rear speakers hooked up yet - so I'm 3.1, not 5.1 for now. Ugggggg. That - and my big Paradigms had no hope of fitting....

Well, I guess I'm one of those "couple thousand"

I'll wait.

OLED and something called SED technology will be showing up in the not to far future. SED sometime this year. I don't know too much about it right now but that SED tech is supposed to be as good as the CRT but with HD resolution on a flat screen with faster response times and better contrast/color reproduction.

All of this HD stuff is just starting to kick off and manufacturers are just beginning to really get up to speed. I'm waiting for more available HD channels and better fast action display.
