You are right about the people at Ritz. She went in to ask some questions and she told the guy was a total d1ck. Only reason I thought to go to Ritz was for the free class since clearly I'll need something like it. I can post some untouched (i suck with photoshop) pics of when I was at the track if you'd like to see... actually, I did touch them. I cropped them and resized them cause they were huge and well over 1MB.

If it was 2 years old it was most probably a 10D. For the type of shooting you're going to do, I would recommend that you get a 20D (the prices are pretty damn good right now, they've dropped a few hundred in the last copule of months) and a Canon 100-400. That is a sweet setup for what you're looking to do, and you could pick up a 28mm 1.8 for a walking around lens etc etc depending on what your budget is. The 100-400 is a little heavy, but if you pick up a monopod (bogen makes a few nice light sturdy modesl) you'll be in extremely good shape.

My research also led me to the canon 20D vs the nikon D70s and the high quality canon "L" lenses are slightly less expensive than the high quality nikon lenses. I would read the review of the 20D at www.dpreview.com before deciding as they do a comparision vs the D70.
BTW costco.com has the 20D with the 18-55 kit lens for $1399.00 and you get a $100 mail in rebate from canon for a net price of $1299.00. Dennis |

Dell has them for ~ $1300 as well. DO NOT BUY THE KIT LENS, it's junk. Newegg is a great site for electronics, BUT, they're a little difficult with returns and or refunds.

I have always been a user of SLRs. Not yet converted yet. I have always been a Nikon fan: they are just built solid and take natural shots. Canons tend to be better for subjects that move a lot ie. sports, kids etc. No matter, Id take a Nikon without reading a review.
