Lay off, guys. The OP has been thinking about bikes and asked how they work. I'm sure each of you wondered how a car worked long before you could use one. I'm guessing he's not going to read this and think he knows how to ride.

Right handle-bar is throttle (twist) and front brake (lever).

Left handle-bar is clutch (lever).

Right foot is rear brake (pedal).

Left foot is shifter (lever). On street bikes you put your toe under it and pull up for an upshift, you put your foot on top and push down for downshift - it's sequential shift. Most racebikes are the opposite, for good reason. For the most part the pattern is 1-N-2-3-4-5-6, also for good reason.

Let me try to understand. This superbike will be your first bike?? I would strongly, really strongly suggest that you go take a class and start with a less powerful bike Dude!

Learning to ride a superbike on the internet is like learning how to have sex by looking at a national geographic magazine. In otherwords, you can't just look at the equipment and know how to use it.

Get some training or at least, a very good living will.

Then why did you feel the need to post your instructions? To make yourself feel better?

Look I would love to ride a street bike as well but think the risks are to0 high.

I am not sure about the age of the person but as you get older your reflexes decrease and the last thing you want to do is ride a street bike.

I honestly don't understand your question. He was curious about how it worked and I explained it. I doubt he uses that information to kill himself. It could be that I'm the dick here, but I doubt it.

My question was whether or not you feel better now that everyone who reads this thread can see that you have a basic working knowledge of motorcycle operations. Several of the members who have already chimed in on this thread ride regularly and some even ride superbikes regularly.

I don't think you're trying to be a dick, but it's come to the point for me personally where I've seen this type of thread/question posed here too often and I'm not going to ignore it anymore because it's one of two things:

1) a "troll" or in other words someone who deliberately tries to stir things up
2) a person who is in Forrest Gump IQ range who needs a reality check

SANguru usually does a good job with handing out reality checks and it's to the point where he needs some help with it, the way things are going around here.
