Well, I'll add this, since I started it:

Last night, I was in the other room. My kids (13, 11, and 10) start screaming and laughing. This story was on the news.

They came running in, and I told them I had heard it. They were saying "what is his 13 year old son thinking?".

No religion being brought in here, but I can't possible imagine going through something like that as a kid.

I think it's very selfish of him to do that before his kids are grown. Is his wife going to turn into a lesbian now? I don't think that's possible, you have to be born that way, right?

I'm not bashing gays, bis, or trans's - I just think it's ridiculous and selfish.

What does if feel like to be a man or a woman anyhow? Guys can be sensitive, thoughtful, caring, and macho all at the same time. Girls can be strong, athletic, mean, tough, and feminine all at the same time too. Which feelings are for girls only and which ones are for guys only?

Does that mean you now have the capacity to turn straight? Are you still living your preferred gay lifestyle if you stay with your partner? Won't that completely turn you off? I know that my GF wouldn't be my GF any longer if she decided to turn into a guy. I don't want a guy, I want a girl - a very feminine girl!
The issue at hand deals with someone who psychologically feels they are/were born into the wrong gender, you would be surprised how many people share this emotional feeling, it is quite real, in additional very few transgender people will take the bridge to actually get hormore treatments for a variety of reasons (eg: health insurance does not cover it sans for very few group insurance plans ex: Ford Motor Company, spouse issues etc) you are arguing with outter/non psychological reasons, you cannot compare the two, you can attempt to show how it would comfuse things but from a psychological standpoint the 2 cannot be related

You should have a discussing with your children that laughing at others misfortune is not only passing judgement (1-way ticket to hell!) but also lacking compassing, just my 2 cents

I would answer it by saying those are technicalities, they don't matter to someone who feels they we're born into the wrong body

Why do you label it as being a misfortune - I thought you applauded his decision?

Technicalities with a great potential to break up a marriage and a family and create great challenges for his kids for a long time to come. Selfish.

Why do you think he's receiving so much grief? Is it because the rest of the world is close-minded?
