325XI Loaner Car

I had a 325XI loaner for about 4 days, my wife and I both loved it.

The 325XI goes with quiet effortless power, where as the X5 V8 has the power but it makes much more noise.

It got a average mpg of of 26 much better than the 18 to 19 I get with my X.

The downside was that the seats just were not a comfortable and my wife had trouble with the head rest hitting her hair. It also did not have the cargo capacity. I was thing that the wagon would help with that.

In the end both my wife and I agreed it was nice to have our X back, now if it only got 26 mpg!

That is the difference in an I6 over a V8 brother.

The I6 in the 325 was quick and ended up going faster. The V8 is a grunting monster, I think BMW made it that way to appeal to people that like noise. The Lexus V8 is smooth and quiet and I sure BMW could make the V8 smooth and quiet.

You know what blue, that comment makes no sense. To say that BMW mfg's cars for people that like NOISE is short sighted. BMW could make the BMW V8 smooth and quiet but then it would be a LEXUS and what would be the point.

The 4.4 can be plenty quiet, its the vehicle you're in as well. In my 545 the engine is very smooth and quiet yet the X5 is louder. There is probably some truth to the exhaust tone being a result of the vehicle.

No disrespect Barry but I believe attacking Blue in almost every thread he post, is short sighted too. Cut the guy some slack!!!
It definitely makes sense to me that BMW could make a smooth and quiet V8 engine that would still bear all the BMW engine soul.
The difference between a BMW and a Lexus has nothing to do with the engine noise level.

Barry

The 325xi is smooth and quiet and its a BMW. Only BMW v8's need to make noise to be a BMW, I think you don't get!
