I agree, the $10/yr sounds like a bargain.

MD, I am VERY sorry to hear about what happened. It's both scary and makes you incredibly pissed off....I can't even imagine. If I had my mind about me I'd go find those SOB's and put a bullet in their heads. I am surprised the lady gave you their addresses.

Can you call the NY PD and nail 'em?

Sorry guys, since I signed up they changed their product offerings. It looks like they upped the cost because they now provide $2500 in id theft insurance.

Here's a link to their new stuff, still a bargain considering the peace of mind.

MD, sorry to hear that. Hope they nail the crook. Suggest giving his cell and details to FBI, ASAP. ProfileProtect by Discover also does credit watch. I have been happy with their service. With Discover you can specify $ limits for alerts if its charged. They will call you to verify.
The latest Choicepoint and LexisNexis scam also leaked thousands of SS#s.

MD,

Glad you caught it..
My suggestion, fill out a police report immediately and make sure to have a recent copy of your electric bill, phone bill, drivers license, mortgage/rent papers on file and handy for the next few years.

Don't be surprised if in 2-3 years from now something pops up on your credit file as a collection account for something you never had, like a phone line in Texas or something. That is what happened to me.

Documents are your life saver at this point.. It is what you will need to prove theft and of course the police report. You can do it by phone and is important to have.

Good luck.. and if you run out of bullets in your glock, I have a nice H&K compact .40 you can borrow

Just saw this breaking news release 40 million credit cards exposed We all may need new credit cards soon.

An "unauthorized individual" infiltrated the computer network of a third-party payment processor and may have stolen some 40 million credit card numbers, MasterCard International revealed Friday. All brands of credit cards were exposed in the attack; about 14 million of the 40 million were MasterCards.

Sorry to hear that MD. Kudos to the CC company who recognized there was something fishy there, though. Could have been a hell of a lot worse. Keep your eye on that credit report, though... make sure he's not trying to charge something else somewhere else... Good luck, and keep us updated.

Juan
