WOW!!! I got laid off today

No I'm not kidding.

After a 12 year career at Merrill Lynch, it's all over. Senior Management, in their infinite wisdom, decided that financial planning doesn't have a valid business case at the firm because it does not generate the necessary revenue to justify its existence.

So me and 5 of my colleagues (average of over 10 years of service each) were let go today.

At least a) I have a decent severance package and b) I have a few irons in the fire - so to speak - for other opportunities. My last day is Friday, so I'll just be hanging out for the next couple of days.
We're still going to Florida on Saturday (which reminds me I need to post some pictures with the X loaded with kiddie stuff as proof the machine really is practical!!) and we'll be enjoying EVERY minute of the trip.
