Flashlight for the Truck

Hey guys!!! I have a job this summer making 8 bucks an hour. So I have some money that I want to spend on the Truck. I want to get one of those really cool Stinger flashlights by Steamlight. I remember talking to this cop once that had one and liked how it was always charged and ready to go in his car. Anyone have one? Did tripleX have one in the back of his X5?

Good choice young man. I have a Streamlight Stinger with an AC and 12V charger for the car. It is probably the perfect flashlight. It's small enough to be convenient but big enough to be a good utility flashlight. It also is very bright. It's brighter than my 4D cell Maglight while being much smaller. I got a Bianca Accumold ASP baton holder for it, which is a perfect fit even though the holder is made for an expandable baton. The Streamlights are very durable and reliable whereas my Sure Fire has been very bright but I've gone through several bulbs just from dropping it.

I got a great deal on mine through a law enforcement source but you can try Botach for a pretty good price on the Streamlight products.

I used to spend my summer cash on car stereo equipment.. Luckily cars are now equipped with great sound systems..

Thanks, I found this one on ebay. link Since it says the item is new i e-mailed the seller to make sure that it has not bee sitting on the shelf for a year. Now for wiring. It said in the manual that it needs to be wired into a un-switched DC source. I was planing on cutting off the cigarette lighter plug on the end of the cord and wire it in that way. How many amp fuse should I use when I wire it into the electrical panel? Do you have to worry about the charger running down the car battery?

I didn't go that route. I didn't even mount the charger. I just keep the flashlight in the truck and charge it in the house every so often. If I'm going to be on the road for a long time like for a long trip I bring the 12V charger with me. Even though the batteries in these lights are NiCd, they are quite long lasting.

I also keep a small CR123 powered flashlight as a backup. I suggest a Streamlight Scorpion. It's small, extremely bright for its size, and very durable. Price: about $35.
