That's pretty darn slow. I'm at 8mb. What is Comcast's advertised speed?

I just did SG's test site:

DwnLoad: 44.9Mbps
Upload : 359 Kbps

Whatever the hell the numbers mean...I'm on ComCrap's superduper
connection, fwiw.

I've run the "speed tests" on occasion and find they vary all over
the map.

And, just ran Alpac's site for a result of: 3002 Kbps

www.speakeasy.net is always reliable.

just a point of order here, any site that registers "speed" is never dead on. the best way to use them is to let them test your connection and use that first test as a baseline. Then on subsequent tests compare the results. Obviously there is a problem is you're supposed to get say 8Mb and you get 3, but overall don't get overly concerned with a 1-2Mb/s variance.

well if you are browsing the internet that is taking some of the bandwidth from your available bandwidth therefore your bandwidth on the DL side will go down...other fluctuations can be due to bandwidth on the other user's end
