Passport Problem!!

So I applied for a passport in January and should have gotten it about 3 weeks ago. I expedited the service and everything but I still haven't gotten it and I am leaving for Europe tomorrow. My passport is still "in process" in Charleston, SC and I am in Chicago. The passport people say it will not get to me by Monday because my passport was overlooked. I can;t even schedule an appointment at the U.S. Passport Agency in Chicago because the next available appointment is in 2 weeks. Do you think they will just let me walk in if I have my itinerary and plane tix saying that I'm leaving tomorrow? Also, do you know if it's physically possible to make passports on the spot?

I desperately need help. Does anyone know how this passport process works considering my circumstances? Thanks.

The passport agency here in NYC at Rockefeller Center does emergency passports, so I know that what you're asking for is possible.

If you show up with tickets and your paperwork, and a picture your local office should be able to get you a passport right away.

I found this:

even without an appointment and now that there is a major passport problem going on currently? I'm so scared. I have to make this trip for my study abroad.

no clue, your best bet is to get there early and plead your case.

Hmm, probably shoulda planned ahead. I head back a month ago that with spring break coming up and the new passport rules, they're having a heckuva time getting passports done as a result of the heavy demand. I think they said even expedited service was 6-8 weeks.

i needed an emergency passport (i thought i lost mine) earlier this month. here in philly they are now doing same day passports by appt. only.
so i lied and said i had an appt and thankfully that worked.

there is no documentation that states whether or not you have an appt.

it will cost you though.

good luck!

but was this at the Philadelphia U.S. passport agency and were you applying right then? because I already applied for one and it's just "in process" in the east coast. I don't know if they can cancel the processing of that initial application. Was this what happened with your situation?

Same day processing is somewhat of misnomer. You need to be in front of an officer first thing in the morning in order to receive a passport in the afternoon. If you are there in the afternoon, chances are they won't be able to complete the processing and prepare the passport by the close of the business day.

You have an additional problem that your photographs are in South Carolina. You'll need another set of passport photos with you when you go to the Chicago State Dept. office. No photographs, no passport.
