I don't believe X5Jay has all this going on. I may be in error but from the initial post it sounds like this is a home based operation where he has VPN set up the same way i do. I personally am the administrator of the 2,3 or four computers on my network. In all honesty it just isn't all that difficult to solve getting a printer online. I will admit I'm not a windows kinda guy but I can't believe this is that difficult.

I'm not trying to argue with you here.... but x5Jay states "As soon as I shut down my VPN connection, I can print fine."

In this scenario it seems that his printer is configured properly...... Once the VPN connection is made the VPN settings are disabling his access to his local network which then causes him to not be able to connect to the printer..... This is a common problem with more secure VPN installations. Trust me..... I wish there was a way around this because it's a real PITA for me as well. The only way to solve it is to get the admins to enable local network access..... and they are not going to do that....

Never thought you were trying to argue. Sorry if i came across as if i felt that way. All i was pointing out is that from the way he composed his post there's no big corp to deal with he is the admin. That being the case it's just a small configuration prob that should be easy to solve.

No, you didn't...... I just didn't want my response to appear as such..... This board has enough arguments as it is.....

He later posted this "Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I think Derek is right - the VPN (Nortel Contivity) is not allowing me to connect to my home network - and yes, the policies at my company are very tight with this sort of stuff."

That was where I was pretty sure he was connecting to a corp network....

Didn't see that I was too busy having fun with you. What arguements???????? I know folks around here share their opinions and thats a good thing. But those of us who have been around here for a while know it's all in good fun and don't have thin skins.
