When I came to the car I found it in this state: The lock was popped out and all the windows were down. They only took the bmw book w/manuals. Can anyone shed some light? Please guys this is killing me. |

Think so? Just don't get why they took the whole book and don't understand why all the windows were down.
Thanks for the quick response. |

were you near your car when this happened? maybe you accidentally held down the unlock key. i have my keys and wallet in my left pants pocket, and when i bend down sometimes, it hits the button
were the manuals in the glove box?

when thieves pop the lock they use the screwdriver to turn the broken lock to drop open all of the windows. If you use your key you can do the same thing. once the windows are down they can reach in and unlock the car.
When you get the lock fixed, have the dealer recode your alarm so that only the remote will turn off the alarm. When they popped the lock and used the screwdriver, the car thought that a key was used and the alarm probably didn't go off. I had the same thing happen to me when the headlights were stolen out of my '04.

this happened to me, as well ... they were most probably trying to steal the car, but couldn't find the valet key in your car. They stole my manuals out of the glovebox, as well. My valet key wasn't in there, but it was in the center console (which they found) ... thank god for the "code" function in the OBC, otherwise my X5 would have been gone. Where in queens were you parked? I was in NJ at the liberty science center

Thanks for the respose.I live in Howard Beach. But they did it at Long Island Jewish Hospital. When you got it fixed ,did you have them take away the feature of having them open the windows from the lock with the key? I'm definately going to do that,It's a stupid feature anyway.
