I think you missed the point of his comment, completely. As well, Iraq can be spelled Irak and since he has actually BEEN to the country maybe you should give him some credence.

I guess you did not understood what i meant , I did not ask for money or said to give money to the soldiers i just explain what happen to me at the airport when i came back from IRAK (sorry for my spelling but english is my second language). So tell me how you support the troops?? I DID NOT JOIN THE ARMY FOR THE MONEY BECAUSE IS NOT REALLY THAT MUCH, I JOINED BECAUSE I WANTED TO SERVE MY COUNTRY AND I LIKE WHAT I DO. I AM PROUD TO BE A SOLDIER.

Don't worry bro, some people believe Jon Karry and think we're here because we can't get/hold a job anywhere else.

Never mind my MBA...

Really. Because our troops are "over there" is the reason there's one thing we are less likely to have to deal with here. Do you even have a clue about what that might be?

Also by not wanting any of your tax money to go toward the war you have in fact declared you do not support our troops.

I'm glad you were not our President on Dec. 7, 1941. We'd all be speaking Japanese! Grow up, pull your head out of the sand, and realize that we all live on the same planet . That ocean affectionately called "the pond" isn't big enough to protect us anymore.

For the others in this thread:

I think I can see the point the OP was getting at. This may not be the best interpretation, please bear with me and try to understand what I'm trying to say... (I'm not a self-proclaimed political genius like Eric... )

Troops = M.L. King
Mission = Civil Rights Act

Even though the "mission" was ethically "right" most people didn't agree with it at the time. Being the good people they were they didn't want to see the "troops" (MLK and his followers) get hurt in the process of fulfilling that mission. And yes, MLK and many of his followers died. But they died fighting for what is right for ALL people. Not just their own. That's a principal this country was founded on. Do you think the sacrifice was worth it in the end? I do.

In comparison, the war in Iraq:
Troops = Our Troops
Mission = The same thing but on a world wide scale that really includes ALL people. Not only to secure or protect our own freedoms but to free others from the same oppression and persecution MLK fought for.

My Vote: I support the Troops AND the Mission.

this is INTENDED to be a politically-neutral response. i apologize if it's interpreted with a particular bias. also, i've just had a few drinks with some friends so sorry for typoes or weird wording.

let's not forget, everyone, this country was FOUNDED on the premise of freedom, the very notion that citiziens of this new world would have the freedom to stand up and cirticize the governemnt rather than blindly being held to its every wish and command.

whether someone agrees or disagrees with the bush administration -- or any other for that matter -- is not grounds to lash an ad hominem attack against them. indeed, FAILURE to stand up and criticize the government would be to condemn and disrespect all that this country was build upon.

indeed: ironically, he who stands up and bad-mouths the government is, in a sense, the greatest of all patriots. he who blindly goes along, presupposing that "supporting our troops" and "supporting our great country" is necessarily what is best completely misses the point of our great democratic nation.

and finally, it's always easier to just "go along with the flow" of what one's governement (or family, friend, or loved one) says is best than to pause, critically analyze, and ultimately criticize.

no one WANTS to believe that the person -- or governement or country -- that he grew up with and loves is wrong; it's far easier to just go along with it.

but that, i'm afraid, is NOT what democracy was about.

as i've always said, the role of a best friend is to point a finger in your face and tell you when you're wrong: if he didn't do it, who would?

as i've humbly disclaimed before, i'm not yet well-read enough in politics to strongly argue one side over ther other. but SOMETHING doens't seem right here. and as an american, i'd be damned if i were to just ignore it and assume it is right.
