Cool tree!!! Man I wish our climate (and budget) allowed for palm trees. Everytime I go to FL or warmer climates and see palm trees, I always point and say "Oh I want one of those!!!!"

Nice! What's the difference between sod and bermuda grass?

Sod can be any type of grass, it is just grown and harvested grass that you buy in pre-cut strips and lay down on prepared soil for an instant lawn. In Arizona, bermuda grass is the only type of grass that can handle 110 degree temps plus. When winter arrives and temps go down, the bermuda goes dormant. We then scalp the bermuda down and plant winter rye grass. Then when temps get over say 90 degrees, all the winter rye dies, and the bermuda grass comes back to life. I have attached a pic of the winter rye grass below, it's a much brighter green. Bermuda grass is a crawling grass and fills in the bare spots/holes rather quickly. The winter rye grass can be a pain, because it grows straight up and doesn't crawl, and you have to put a ton of seed down to overcome what is eaten from the birds.

Yep, unless you want dead brown grass for 7 months of the year. Actually, my HOA requires everyone in my neighborhood to plant winter rye in their "front" yards.

Interesting fatoid on grass and Palm Trees.
In S Cali I don't need to much on my grass, they stay pretty much green.
Now I want palm trees. My neighbor has several telephone pole size trees planted while back.
How do you eat the dates?
Are they one makes palm seed oils?

Yeah, your grass in SoCal is a fescue hybrid which stays green all year long. I lived in OC for 9 years btw . You eat the dates one at a time . I think it's a long process of netting the fruit to keep the birds from eating them, and then you have to lay them out to bake in the sun and partially dry out. Maybe I'll try it sometime. No idea about the oils.
