Look out 5 series and E class

Here comes the 2008 Genesis Concept....
It seems Hyundai is really serious about targeting the luxury car market in the United States. The company has already confirmed a luxury sedan that will debut in 2008, and had a very successful launch of the Hyundai Genesis Concept at the 2007 New York Auto Show.

Now Hyundai is getting ready to launch a series of TV commercials, that will debut in late April, showing its luxury car going up against upper-class brands such as BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The company plans to show consumers that Hyundai can offer the same luxury for a lot less.

With the production version of the Genesis concept set to start well under $30,000, Hyundai is hoping to aim the car at the BMW 5-Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class giving it luxurious features like Bluetooth technology, HD radio, navigation, USB/AUX input, heated/cool seats, push-start button and active cruise control. The Genesis concept also has safety features like front, side and rear airbags, anti-lock brakes and stability control, which you can expect to see in the production version.

The Korean company is also spending the next 12 months preparing its dealers to sell and promote an upper-class, luxury Hyundai brand.

Wow! I never thought I'd say this about a Hyundai, but that's a pretty good-lookin' sled! It'll be interesting to see how it drives, especially for $30K!! Any idea what it's got under the hood?

Huh.
I remember Hyundai saying a few years ago it was making a new luxo sedan, called the Equus, to challenge the S430 and 745i....and then a year or two later, I heard it was debuting in 2007....and a few months ago I heard it would be @ NY. So I guess they changed their priorities and are taking it step by step now, with a 5er/E/A6 competitor first......
Also, . For some reason, I find the Azera, in black, very beautiful. And the rest of thier products are pretty good.

Agreed.

Under the hood is either a @300hp V6 or a 300+ hp V8.

somehow i find it hard for hyundai to find a large audience for their stuff...EVEN if the car has its merrits, who wants to show off their HYUNDAI????? i can see kmart steal a few petty sales from nordstrom but that ends there...just my 2 cents.

i heard it hyundai has a v8 planned for it...and the equus sedan...i remember seeing spy pics of the interior (dash) and it basically looks like the sonatas in terms of shape but, of course, more upscale

does it remind you of a camry in front?

Hyundai should buy out Chrysler, and use the Chrysler name
