ERIC5273-
I was in NY during the Tawana Brawly fraud perpetrated by Sharpton (which he never apologied for -); I have personally dealt with Jesse Jackson. Both are arrogant, self-serving racial extortionists, neither can even be remotely considered as anything resembling honorable men. There is no shortage of racism in this country from many, many sources, and those guys have a vested interest in pepetuating it - they are part of the problem, not part of the solution, IMNSHO. Have you heard anything from either regarding their comments about the Duke lacrosse players? |

Well, YES, they DO need to be pulled, but they won't. NBC just wanted an excuse to get rid of an irrelevant, has-been.

Bill Maher made a great point last night:
"Did the ladies of Rutgers hear Imus's comments? Probably not."

Thanks for the thought-provoking posts.
I've never liked that creepy old dude from MSNBC, and changed the channel every single time. After taking some time going through in-depth article i.e. next Times Magazine article, I feel bad for the guy. Some old white guy tried to be hip-hop shit and got axed. I used to like Obama, but not anymore due to his remarks on Imus. How judgmental...

All I know is I'm sure glad the Duke case in which 3 people were wrongfully accused and INDITED by a grad jury which resulted in two students being thrown out, a lacrosse team suspended and a coach having to resign has been covered for about 1.5 days while some radio hosts comments which directly effected NO ONE were a weeks long topic in the media. Not to mention the whole Anna Nicole crap which was dragged out for weeks because some white chick OD'd. Oh and on the side, in Baltimore last week..on a single day..6 people were shot including 2 15 year olds and a 10 year old....no large scale coverage at all. Heck it didn't even make the front page of Baltimore papers. Just to do the quick math for you, that would be the equivalent of Philadelphia having 78 people shot in one day.
This is great.

Someone here has gotta be in media, start a real war for Nifong. I may be young, but Duke lost a lotta points when looking at colleges because they don't stand up for their students who give them hundreds of thousands of dollars. |

Very good and interesting thread, imo...
I suspect "we", the general population of MickeyD's chomping, Walmartized great unwashed, that comprise 80% of this wonderful United States, could care little about the unbelieveable stuff that goes on every day here or, in the world. Many/most of the that "fine majority" would much prefer the latest from ANS's "nanny" vs anything resembling hard or, "more important" news or any kind of wonderment about "where this country or the world is going" and, "who's 'guiding' us there". We are DrPhil'd, JerrySpringer'd, Oprha'd, ET'd to a fookin pulp, imo. Add in those "cogent comment" updates that ratttle the 24/7 cable "news" stations, and as Paul Simon wrote, "It's a wonder I can think at all." We are WalmartNation, unfortunately. Thanks for letting me do a Sunday morn' rant. Good Luck to all of us; we shall need it. mD |

mD, i'm not stalking you, really...
Your Dr. Phil comment made me laugh. My local morning show compiled the soundbytes of Dr. Phil calling his guests sluts, skanks, hoes, and more that isnt FCC friendly. I vote that he's next in this arbitrary firing of mediawhores. Springer's worse, but I think Oprah was respectable in the way that (at least I didn't hear her) she didn't spout off using the race card after this crap. |
