I'm pretty sure there were no constitutional violations, or even anything related to the constitution, with regard to Imus getting fired. The ACLU gets involved when there are constitutional issues.

Though what Imus said was crude, crass, racist, and mysoginistic (sp?), and he deserves a smack-down for his remarks (as does is cohort), one must consider the source, - he is a known, practicing asshole, and a rich one who got that way by doing what he does. Obviously, a lot of people dig his act (I do love it when he skewer Hillary), and I predict that he will land on his feet, bigger than ever, on satellite radio. No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public.

He absolutely owes the Rutgers team an apology, but he should tell Sharpton, Jackson, and the PC minions to piss up a rope untill those race-baiting poverty pimps are also jumping on all the rappers and others to clean up their act as well. Last I checked, every radio/TV in my house has a on/off switch and multiple channels. JMO.

Ya know, just because you didn't hear about something, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

The mainstream media only likes to report about Sharpton when he has something controversial to say. So when he speaks out against gangsta rap, as he does quite often actually, the only media that reports it are some music magazines and small artsy newspapers.

If that were the case, why do prominent politicians -- including US Presidents and Vice Presidents -- pulitzer-winning journalists, scientists, grammy-winning musicians, CEOs, athletes, and authors line up to be on his show? He sells more books that Oprah; last year, he single-handedly help raise $10m Dollars for the Fallen Heroes Fund to build a state-of-the-art rehab center for soldiers coming back from Iraq (they were having little luck before his involvement, by the way); since 1990, he's raised over $40m Dollars for SIDS research; he built and operates a cattle ranch for kids with cancer... But he is not relevant? Gimme a break.

Yeah, he fucked up; but he's not a racist. Nor is he a bad person. As a matter of fact, Tim Russert described him best when he called him the "Curmudgeon with a big heart." That's exactly what he is. And he got screwed... he was rail-roaded.
