That first head on crash test is very interesting especially when you consider how much distance the damage to each front end traveled during the crash. This may be the reason.

so i guess your kids are safer in a 07 smart than in a 68 chrysler, but i agree the 68' chrysler has more goodfeeling' patina!

Based on those videos, I think the Smart fared better than jap econoboxes such as the Honda Fit. I mean, the crashworthiness (or lack thereof) in the Fit was a reason my mom didnt get one of those.
