Yup, I had 6 hours of ground training as well.

i want to get the 5 jumps pack. it's only like CAD $350. the first jump cost $200.

Personally, as a pilot, "it takes a sick mind to get out of a well aircraft" - that said, if that's your bag, go for it and enjoy - life's too short not to try to experience new things - I only remember my Navy instructor on parachuting telling those that skydived to stop because the best odds that your chute is going to work(when you need it) is the FIRST time - after that Vegas odds start looking good compared to parachuting.

aren't many navy personnel involved in parachute jumps as well?

i dont have a source for this but i read or heard somewhere that the % of fatalities caused by parachute accidents is significantly less than % of fatalities caused by automobile accidents.

of course it is still risky but so is driving the x at high speeds
