It isn't me, B-Line...
But, I found my original post from the Ol'RoadToadBored,
back in the day, (November 2001), when that was the only
joint for X5 bs:

Hi All, New to this board. Just stumbled upon it. Have read most of the X5 posts.
Our X5 is 2 1/2 mths old w/<4K miles.We enjoy it;it is a "2nd" car. Had Jeep Grand
Cherokee for 6 yrs before this.

My 2 cents on picks&pans:

Picks: Glitch free thus far.
Seemingly well constructed.Surpising torgue in all gears at all rpm.
More bells&whistles than the space shuttle.
Handles v.well for SUV.
Excellent gas mileage, esp on hway. Don't see yourself on the road.
The MBenz drivers look.
Pans: First gear is way too low. Almost a creeper.
Crying for a true OD 5th. What were they thinking?
Seating pos. is so-so. Maybe it's just me: right leg goes to sleep on long drives.
The v.good handling sucks you in;this is not a car!

$5 visors!! What pieces of junque. And, don't block much sun.
Black leather interior: shows everything.Pass on the black int,if you can. The open
"moonroof" doesn't do much in exhaust, etc. Just wind noise, when open.
The antitheft/brain red thing on rear view mirror looks like something off a $5 toy.
The computer can't read my gar. door opener.
Doesn't hold as much "cargo" as the ol' Jeep.
The doors close very "clunkily" and don't always latch.
Any comments/opins are welcome and appreciated.

Ques.: any exp with aftermkt snow tires/wheels? The orig tires are not for snow, imo.
I'm changing my oil/fil. at 4k+. 15k seems way tooo long for me.
Thanks for letting me rant and rave.
My Best Regards, MD"

And, a page of posts from that week back in Nov., 2001:

http://bimmer.roadfly.com/x5/message.../y2001w47.html

MiCkEy, Greg, ChrisF., and a few others were there then, also.
And, a bunch that don't come by here, or have moved on...

I was a knucklehead nearly 6 years ago, too. Same idiot, jes'
older now.

I thought she was bragging about her 3-series and how everyone looked at her like she was rich.

Didn't see my name on this list. I came over in late March 2005 from RF after Chris F. told me where all the cool people went.

I'm from a different perspective, I started posting about all cars in mid 2003, on Autospies.com. Well, in mid-late 2006, the site went wayyy downhill, and I couldn't stand the idiot members/editors there, so I started to look for a refuge with educated people that aren't complete losers...and, in Jan '07, I found one Yes, talking about and reading about BMWs nonstop gets really old after awhile, so that's why I have autoblog.com .
If you can't tell by some of my posts, I'm a FoMoCo guy

Nov 2001, on RoadToad...
sent to detention, then kicked off; went to BeamERfest for 20 mins,
and floated in here, March 2005.
