Alaska Trip

Soon I will be departing for Seattle, WA (one of my favorite cities, actually) for a cruise up in Alaska. I'm leaving a day early (saturday) so I can spend a day in Seattle. So far we are going to the Space Needle (right near the hotel) and then Pike Market, and then we are going up to Everett for the Boeing Manufacturing Facility site. We are going to the building where all the planes are made (which happens to be the largest building in the world ) and hopefully we can see the new 787 and also the dreamlifter. Photography is strictly prohibited.
Have any other members done this tour? I was also made aware that there is a museum, which we'll check out if time allows. So we leave Sunday, some of the stops include a float plane trip over a scenic area, and a glacier boat ride trip. Any of you done an Alaska cruise, and what line was it on? I've gone on a few before, but not this line, and in the carribbean.
See you guys in a week!
(hope the NY meet is a blast!)

WOW! excellent timing!!!
A member at bimmerfest(JonM) told me that right now at boeing a 777 is in final assembly, and the FIRST 787 is ending production soon, and its one of the last times to see the whole plane before it goes to paint, which will be in about 2 weeks. The heavily modified 747 "Dreamlifter" is parked at a hangar near the plant.

(Oh yeah and I reserved us a Dodge Magnum)

hellos from the biz center at the seattle hotel! Seattle is real nice, yesterday went to Boeing, saw the massive 747 being built. Also went in a concord and an old Air Force One. Today before the cruise leaves probably going to Space Needle.
(oh, and of course, Thrifty was out of Full Size rentals (Magnum, 300) so they gave us a Libery..at least its new)

Book compact, pay compact, and you'll always drive out in something nicer. Hope the fuel bills don't rack up too much! (That's the reason we didn't drive an SUV or Cadillac in SF).

If you haven't yet, visit the Pike's market area. My mom also says that the local Tully's Coffee is much better than Starbucks.

Car isn't a huge deal, I had a free day coupon so it was only a few bucks, and for the troubles I got an upgrade for the next rental.
We checked out pike yesterday some pretty cool shops around there, and he had a nice dinner at a casual seafood place. And yeah, I got some sorta iced blended vanilla thing at Tulley's, and it's better than starbucks' stuff.
Weird thing is, the highways are packed here! It's worse than Chicago! But atleast we can enjoy the nice clean cool air in the city, unlike chicago.

Did the Alaskan inner passage cruise on Celebrity Cruise Lines 8yrs(that long ago?!?) ago, great trip! - sometimes the Boeing tour is booked solid, had to do it on another trip to Seattle, but usually lots of planes outside in various stages of paint representing a wide variety of world airlines, the SDI laser 747 happened to fly in when I was there, museum is in town at "old" Boeing field, that's where the Blue Angels stage out of during their show at SeaFair in early Aug, took the "duck" tour around town (tour in a modified Army "duck" amphibious vehicle and get to "quack"), a visit up the needle is $$$, but the museums are cool at the base of it, I agree, Seattle is one of those cities that it's always a joy to return to.

Medical Emergency On-Board

Today we had a visit from the Royal Canadian Coast Guard-apparently a crew member got ill/critically injured and warranted an emergency evacuation- the captain turned the ship around, (we were at the n point of Vancouver Is.) and dispatced a medivac and rescue boats-I took a lot of pics, the heli was hovering right over my head!!
Anyaways, nice scenery here!
