thoughts on the new supercharged Range Rover sports?
Really nice car and all, the exhaust in the back mite be the only "nasty" thing about this car; i think the car evokes a lot of good things, including exclusivity, good design (i personally like the square lines on the car), and a semi decent supercharged engine (is it any good? that i dont know... does anyone know?) we were gonna wait to get the 06 BMW 550 but I could look into this rover if it makes any sense...it could be a good companion to the X5

As some racing legend once said, to paraphrase him, you can't turn a pig into a racehorse but you can make a f*cking fast pig. That's my take on the new RR. I haven't driven one but I can't imagine that handling to be up to BMW levels even if it hauls butt.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport vs. BMW X5 Review
How the Land Rover Range Rover Sport stacks up against the BMW X5 - by Nigel Cooper, Topanga CA Cost The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Land Rover to the dealership as the BMW X5. The BMW is quite a bit less costly than the Range Rover Sport as far as MSRP. Utility There's no clear winner between the Land Rover and the BMW regarding hauling capacity. Neither the Range Rover Sport nor the BMW X5 has a marked advantage regarding seating capacity. Towing is substantially more the Land Rover Range Rover Sport's forte than it is the X5's. Comfort While the front cabin in the BMW X5 offers a bit more head room than the Land Rover Range Rover Sport, there really isn't much of a difference. The ampler interior dimensions of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport make it more spacious for your passengers than the BMW. Dimensions The Land Rover Range Rover Sport is quite a bit heavier than the BMW X5. The Land Rover Range Rover Sport's tank is approximately the same size as the BMW's, though the BMW's is a little larger. The Land Rover Range Rover Sport rides lower than the BMW, which is a good thing for its center of gravity and ease of access. The BMW X5 and the Range Rover Sport compete for the same parking spaces. Handling The Range Rover Sport and the BMW X5 have about similar tires. With their similar turning circles, the Land Rover Range Rover Sport and the BMW quite certainly handle about the same into and out of tight spots. Drivetrain The Land Rover Range Rover Sport and the X5 have similar-sized engines, with a slight advantage to the X5. The Land Rover packs quite a wallop compared to the X5 regarding torque, which is the force that lets you accelerate quickly. The BMW X5 could learn a lesson or two from the Land Rover Range Rover Sport as far as torque. Overview The X5 and the Land Rover Range Rover Sport have the same basic after-sale protection. 100% agreed on ford crap. fix or repair daily, i dont think that land rover is an exception to that rule....but, i was willing to keep an open wallet on the new stuff, thought maybe they'd turn around and do something good?
driving an RRS can never be like driving the X. there was an episode of fifth gear where he compared the X5, the ML and the Rover....has anyone seen that episode?
